  "The knowing subject and the object known are mutually determined from the beginning by the social process of the cultivation of nature, the product of which is the history of the species as a whole."
  
  There are numerous intersections of contemporary philosophy, poetics and politics that struck me during the recording of this album. One in particular were the struggles related to the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) in North Dakota in the United States.
  During this events of the DAPL, I felt there was a connection between the events taking place and how the interpretation of Horkeimer by Honneth was resonating for me. Two world-views were obviously in confrontation. One was built on the foundation of a Cartesian domination of nature (capitalism), and another was more holistic and concerned itself with the ideas of harmony, the immaterial and the invisible.
  An irresolvable conflict between these two worlds were meeting physically in the real but on different grounds, divided by a mental construction which the main protagonists didn’t necessarily acknowledge. The opponents to this project touched me through the tragedy of their struggle. It was an archetype of a lost cause. In my interpretation, they didn’t struggle to "win." They rebelled in the name of an ideal : the legitimacy of their relationship to the world.
  Because of this situation and others, "Feng-Shen"(which translates literally to "Wind-Spirit") is about the plurality of relations to the world and the echoes of their encounters.
